Full Force and Rude Boys Headline 29th Annual Roots and Heritage Festival



LEXINGTON, KY- School is in session, but the summer is not officially over in Lexington until after the Annual Roots and Heritage Festival.

For the 29th year, on the weekend following Labor Day the Roots and Heritage Festival will bring bands, food, music and fun to Elm Tree Lane from Short St. to Fourth St.

Saturday night, September 9th bring your lawn chairs to Stage One near Third St. for a “House Party’’ with Full Force.

The group was the Force behind many popular songs by UTFO, The Force MD’s and Roxane Shante’. Their biggest hits were collaborations with Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam “I Wonder If I Take You Home” (Columbia) with Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and  “All Cried Out”/”Behind My Eyes”,

Rude Boys will perform hits like ”Written All Over Your Face” during Roots and Heritage.

Also on Stage One Saturday night are The Rude Boys, sure to sing their Billboard 1991 R&B song of the year ” Written All Over Your Face “. Discovered in Cleveland, Ohio by the great Gerald LeVert The Rude Boys have continued to tour and have a show filled with R&B classics.


Friday – Jazz/Blues in the Street

Saturday – Parade beginning at 3 p.m. Theme: Education – Grand Marshals: Helen Caise, First Black Student to Integrate FCPS and Dr. Sonja Fiest Price – Vice President of Institutional Diversity at Univ. of Kentucky
